feeling hot hot hot!

So things heated up in Sydney today – like all the way up to 43 degrees (that's 110 fahrenheit for you Americans playing at home). It was like a big warm hug that just wouldn't let go.

Seriously, I'm never complaining about summer not being warm enough again. I'm sorry Mother Nature, I take it all back. This was all the warmth I need, and then some. I've never been so happy to go to work and sit in my temperature-controlled cubicle! And receive a surprise delivery of Ben & Jerry's...

But thanks to the weather, we were lucky enough to get an early mark from the office (at the exact hour the Bureau Of Meteorology was predicting the heat would peak – it was a long walk home, let me tell you). And naturally, I plan to spend the rest of the evening sitting directly under the air con and chain-eating ice-creams. Because what else can one do in a heatwave?

^^ I had approximately 60 seconds to eat this ice-cream before it melted. Lucky there are more in the freezer where that came from! ^^

On a more serious note, my heart goes out to all those people who have lost their homes to bush fires in Tasmania. If you would like to help, click here. I'm so in awe of the men and women in the fire brigade and rural fire service who put their lives on the line to fight these blazes. Thank you!

  2. I got an early mark as well but getting home was horrible. Non-air conditioned train. Nearly melted away. Yes thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the bushfires.
